Royal Hut was created ten years ago by the late Mary Vinson and continues to support the traditional, time-honored techniques and use of authentic raw materials that combine to produce the beauty and romance of African textile arts at their finest.

Each Royal Hut product is made using a combination of high quality cotton textiles.The main feature of each product is hand printed and dyed West African cloth.

A traditional "batik" dying process features a wax "resist", applied with intricately carved wooden, metal and foam rubber blocks. It is a centuries old, complex, multi-stage process that makes use of natural cassava and indigo dyes. Variations in the natural dying process combined, with personality of the individual artisan creating the dyed fabric, ensure that every item we manufacture is unique.
